Fun team skills competitions held during the USSSA Texas National Championships. Event times and exact field locations are TBA. A sign-up sheet will be sent out to coaches 5 days before the event starts.

🥎 Infield Around the Horn
Around the Horn How It Works
●Each team gets two (2) attempts.
●Pitcher starts from the pitching position. The clock starts when the pitcher releases the ball.
●Pitcher throws to the Catcher.
●Catcher steps on Home Plate, then throws to the 2nd Baseman.
●2nd Baseman steps on 2nd Base, then throws to the 1st Baseman.
●1st Baseman steps on 1st Base, then throws to the 3rd Baseman.
●3rd Baseman steps on 3rd Base, then throws to the Shortstop.
●Shortstop steps on 2nd Base, then throws to the Catcher.
●Once the Catcher receives the ball and steps on Home Plate, the clock stops.
👥 Six (6) players per team may participate Fastest and most accurate team wins!
🏃 Team Base Running
Base Running How It Works
●Each team receives two (2) attempts.
●Teams consist of 8 players — 4 at second base and 4 at home plate.
●Players may not lead off.
●Players run a relay-style race. The first runner leaves home plate and the clock starts. When that player touches second base, the first player at second takes off from behind the base — but only after the incoming runner touches second and passes in front. When a runner from second touches home and passes in front of the next player, that player takes off from home.
●When the last player touches home plate, the clock stops.
●Each runner must start behind the base or in the right-handed batter’s box so there is no question whether a player left early. If a player leaves early it will be obvious, since the other runner has to touch the base and run through it.
●All players run on the same size field.

💥 Team Home Run Derby
Home Run Derby How It Works
●Each team is made up of three (3) players.
●Each player gets four (4) outs.
●The team provides the pitcher. The tournament will supply the balls. If the pitcher would like a protective screen, the team should bring one to use.
●Anything not hit over the fence / home run line in fair territory is an out.
●A batter may take two (2) pitches. After the two takes are used, every pitch not swung at is an out.

✓Skill events are optional and free for all registered teams.
✓A sign-up sheet will be sent out 5 days before the event starts.
✓Awards will be given to the winning team in each event.
✓All participants must be registered players on the team roster.
